Steve Wynn has made quite a name for himself in Las Vegas, cementing his reputation for developing outstanding luxury hotels by opening The Bellagio in 1998. His latest project, the Wynn Las Vegas, has already exceeded lofty expectations, offering the perfect mix of flair and elegance; for many it has become the luxury traveler’s hotel of choice.

This glorious hotel pampers its privileged guests with posh hotel rooms and suites, an array of dining choices, thrilling entertainment, first-class shopping, and a full-service casino. The hotel also boasts a private 18-hole golf course designed by Tom Fazio, as well as a comprehensive Mobil Four-Star spa and salon. The Wynn Las Vegas is arguably the most sophisticated hotel in this city that is rapidly becoming known for its luxury accommodations.

The Las Vegas known for its Elvis impersonators and all-you-can-eat buffets is a distant memory when staying at this pleasure palace. With a Ferrari dealership and Chanel and Cartier boutiques under its roof, this luxe hotel is perfect for discerning travelers. Couples escaping to Vegas for a little excitement will feel right at home in the hotel’s intimate guest quarters and top restaurants, yet the Wynn -- with over 200,000 square feet of function space -- is also a perfect choice for groups and meetings. Individuals traveling alone will feel as pampered as those in large groups, though families with young children may find the hotel’s adult-focused amenities and sophisticated attitude a less suitable match.

Guest satisfaction and comfort are a priority at Wynn Las Vegas. The staff is clearly committed to making wishes come true, and the hotel provides every imaginable service. From in-room spa and hair services to the procurement of a Ferrari, this hotel knows how to make a weekend vacation turn into a lasting memory.

Las Vegas is all about perception, and Wynn Las Vegas is no exception. The staff here is polished and professional in both appearance and action and in general I was very pleased with the hotel’s service. Check-in and departure service were efficient, if somewhat lacking in warmth, and the service in the restaurants was consistent and knowledgeable. I had the pleasure of dealing with the concierge desk twice, and both times my needs were met in a courteous and efficient manner.

Wynn Las Vegas offers some of the most plush and sublime hotel accommodations in Las Vegas. Even the standard resort rooms offer an average of 640 square feet, a seating area with a dining table and chairs, and a variety of complimentary Desert Bambu toiletries. Elegantly styled with unique artwork and a contemporary European sensibility, the rooms and suites feel like charming private apartments, rather than standard hotel rooms. Panoramic views of the Las Vegas strip accompany many of the accommodations, which range from resort rooms to salon, parlor, executive, and tower suites. No expense is spared in the design or function of these accommodations, where flat-screen LCD televisions and luxury Italian 320-thread-count bed linens are among the signature comforts.

My resort room was spacious and inviting. The deep salmon-colored fabric lining the walls created an extremely warm setting, while the vibrant, impressionistic artwork added a residential feel. Light colored woods and soft fabrics dominated the fresh, contemporary design. It was immaculately maintained and in excellent condition. The bathroom was equally elegant, spacious and inviting, with a soaking tub, a glass-enclosed shower, and his and her sinks.

Most people come to Vegas to gamble, be entertained, shop, and dine, and Wynn Las Vegas more than fulfills all of these areas. No matter if your game is poker or blackjack, the casino offers something to keep you entertained and occupied. Table games, slots, and race and sports games are among the ways guests can roll the dice. The key to guest rooms doubles as a player’s club card, which can be used to play slot machines or reserve a seat at one of the many card tables.

Wynn Las Vegas also features upscale shopping on the Esplanade. Boutiques carrying Chanel, Cartier, Dior, Louis Vuitton, and Oscar de la Renta are among the luxury brands available.

Guests can also schedule a treatment at the Mobil Four-Star Spa at Wynn Las Vegas, a comprehensive spa and salon where 45 rooms await guests with a variety of relaxing treatments and therapies such as the brown sugar and sake body treatments. Primping is available at the salon, and a traditional barber is also on site.

Available to hotel guests only, the 18-hole Tom Fazio-designed golf course invites players to enjoy the challenge on its beautiful greens. It’s complete with a pro shop and practice chipping and putting greens.

Shows and sporting events are one of Wynn Las Vegas’ many assets. A popular choice is the acrobatic feast for the eyes that is Le Reve. This spectacular, one-of-a-kind performance was designed by the former creative director of Cirque du Soliel, Franco Dragone.

The Wynn Las Vegas has an unparalleled selection of dining options for its guests, featuring top chefs from around the world. There are over twelve different places to dine in the hotel, each with distinct menus and atmospheres. In addition to in-room dining, this hotel offers a veritable buffet of choices, offering everything from French, Chinese, Japanese, Steak, Italian, and pizza to pastries. There is truly something for everyone at this hotel.

French Riviera cuisine is the highlight at the Mobil Five-Star restaurant, Alex. Chef Alessandro Stratta creates an elegant array of offerings such as the Butter Poached Maine Lobster with Sweet Corn Agnolottti and Chanterelles appetizer, or Atlantic Halibut with Borlotti Beans, Tomato Confit and Razor Clams for a main course. Tasting menus and a delectable menu of cheeses and desserts from Pastry Chef Jenifer Witte create an unforgettable dining experience.

Upscale Chinese takes center stage at Wing Lei. The name says it all at SW Steakhouse, while Italian with an emphasis on seafood is the focus at Bartolotta. Okada specializes in Japanese cooking, Red 8 features Asian specialties, and gourmet pizza is the focus at Corsa Cucina, and Chocolat tempts with pastries. Country Club and Tableau feature New American dishes, while celebrity chef Daniel Boulud teases tastebuds at his Brasserie. A seemingly endless buffet is the perfect choice for those who simply can’t decide.

Wynn Las Vegas also turns up the heat at its hot nightspots, Lure and Tryst. Lure is a great spot for cocktails, while Tryst is the hotel’s signature bar, complete with a dazzling 90-foot waterfall and lagoon.

During my visit to Wynn Las Vegas, I was able to enjoy drinks in the bar, breakfast at Tableau, and room service. Hip, but elegant, the bar was very crowded, and, as a result, the service was slower than expected. The drink menu featured a nice assortment of wine, champagne, and unique specialty cocktails. There was no live entertainment the night I visited, however, while walking by the next evening, I noticed a there was a live DJ.

Breakfast at Tableau was a sophisticated way to begin the day. All of the staff was attentive and pleasant. Breakfast was served in a timely manner, and my server was able to answer all of the questions I had about the menu. While the menu did not present a large variety, the selections offered unique takes on the classics, such as roasted pineapple French toast and huckleberry ricotta pancakes. The dishes were artfully plated, and the table settings, which included lovely Bernardaud china, made exclusively for the restaurant, were extremely elegant.

Room service was a nice surprise. The menu featured a large selection of hot and cold entrées, as well as Asian and healthy-eating choices for nutrition-conscious guests. The presentations were distinctive and creative, and the service arrived before the quoted delivery time.

Business Services: Wynn Las Vegas

Wynn Las Vegas is an excellent choice for individual business travelers and corporate groups or meetings. The hotel accommodates individuals with a large, staffed business center. During my stay, I visited the business center and found two staff members who were knowledgeable, efficient, and polite. The staff member I worked with was able to answer all of my questions and was proactive in providing guidance, such as advising me of the last Federal Express pick-up time. The business center was well designed with modern business travelers in mind, and the addition of private Internet suites was an especially nice touch.

Corporate meetings and groups are handled exceptionally well at Wynn Las Vegas. This hotel has an extraordinary amount of function space -- 200,000 square feet. From the entertainment and production services to private catering services, this hotel has practically cornered the market on first-class executive meeting services and facilities.
