The winning combination of Blackcomb and Whistler mountains makes this an internationally famous ski area. It is also a popular summer vacation area. Five lakes dot the valley in Whistler, offering ample opportunity to fish, swim, boardsail, canoe, kayak, sail, or water-ski; all of the lakes are accessible by the Valley Trail network that winds its way through Whistler.
The alpine slopes for a time give way to extensive hiking and mountain biking trails, but even in summer there is skiing to be found; Whistler is where enthusiasts will find the only lift-serviced, summertime public glacier skiing in North America.
