restaurant tour-de-force Danny Meyer
(Gramercy Tavern, Union Square Cafe).
Chef/partner Floyd Cardoz cleverly peppers
his menu with the intoxicating flavors of
India—sweet and savory spices, chutneys,
meats from a tandoor oven and soft rounds
of pillowy, handmade breads. And the result
is a delicious introduction to the sumptuous
flavors of India. The stunning, bilevel dining
room mixes muted jewel-toned accents,
rich redwood floors and soaring windows
that face Madison Square Park.
