Thanks to the plethora of greasy Chinese takeout joints, Chinese food has been much maligned over the years. But at Susanna Foo, a Zen-like dining oasis in Center City, the delicious, traditional cuisine of China sheds its unfortunate reputation and gains the respect it deserves. For years, chef/owner Susanna Foo has been dressing up the dishes of her native land with sophisticated French flair and modern, global accents. Five- and six-course tasting menus are available, and diners may compose their own wine flights if they wish. Foo’s dim sum can be a meal on their own, and that’s a wonderful way to approach dinner here, as long as you order the stellar signature Hundred Corner crab cakes. The entrées are equally mouthwatering, especially the famous tea-smoked Peking duck breast. You may never be able to order takeout again.
