One of the forerunners of California cuisine, the Ranch House made a name for itself many decades ago by offering simple, made-from-scratch dishes—many of them vegetarian—that burst with fresh flavors. The years have seen some changes, but many things remain the same here. Fresh herbs from the garden are still the star of the show, and the loaves of bread that are served to patrons (and sold to locals) is still made fresh daily. Dishes like wild mushroom strudel and grilled diver scallops with sweet corn sauce has been keeping guests coming back, and its garden setting with quiet streams and lush foliage is a favorite with romantics.
