A famous year-round resort village, Pinehurst preserves an era steeped both in tradition and golfing excellence. Its New England style was designed over 100 years ago by the firm of Frederick Law Olmsted, which also designed New York's Central Park and landscaped Asheville's Biltmore Estate. Handsome estates and other residences, mostly styled in Georgian Colonial, dot the village. The Pinehurst Resort and Country Club has eight 18-hole golf courses, a 200-acre lake, 24 tennis courts, and other recreational facilities that are open to members as well as to guests staying there.
