About Pasadena, California:
Home of the world-famous Tournament of Roses, Pasadena was first chosen as a health refuge for weary Midwesterners, and, later, as a winter retreat for Eastern millionaires. Today, it is a cultural center and scientific and industrial frontier because of its many research, development, and engineering industries, including NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The name Pasadena comes from the Ojibwa language; it means "Crown of the Valley."
