About Napa, California:
The city of Napa, situated 50 miles north of San Francisco along Highway 29, serves as the gateway to Napa Valley. With approximately 70,000 residents, it’s the most populous city in all of California’s Wine Country. Correspondingly, Napa is the most commercially developed, if not the most pastoral, city in the region. Napa offers considerably more accommodation options than neighboring cities to the north, and the breadth of options means heightened competition and, in turn, the most affordable rates in Napa Valley. Wine tasters will be kept busy at the many vintners in Napa, including Bouchaine Vineyards and Pine Ridge Winery. Art enthusiasts should schedule a stop to the 53-acre di Rosa Preserve, which houses an art collection of roughly 2,000 works by 750-plus Bay Area artists. The city’s newest attraction is Copia: The American Center for Wine, Food & the Arts. Named for the Goddess of Abundance, Copia celebrates American achievements in the culinary and wine-making arts. There are over 240 wineries in the Napa Valley area, and most of them are open to the public.
