About Morro Bay, California:
At the harbor entrance to this seaport town is Morro Rock, a 576-foot-high volcanic dome discovered by Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo in 1542. A large commercial fishing fleet sails from here, and many boats dock along the Embarcadero. Morro Bay is a designated State and National Estuary; other natural features are Morro Bay Heron Rookery, Montana de Oro State Park, Morro Strand State Beach, and Los Osos Oaks Reserve.
