About Moose Pass, Alaska:
This tiny hamlet of 200 people on the southern shores of Trail Lake in the middle of the Kenai Peninsula is renown for its scenic beauty and its laid back, rustic charm. Throughout the summer, floatplanes skim in over the mountains and land on the lake, dropping off hikers, hunters, and fishermen who come to take advantage of the town’s easy access to wild Alaska. From mid-May to mid-September, the Alaska Railroad winds down the eastern side of the lake, stopping in Moose Pass each day on its journey to and from Seward, 29 miles to the south. In winter, when heavy winter snows close the rail line, the town remains accessible via the Seward Highway, which passes by the edge of town, connecting Anchorage with Seward. Located less than 20 miles from Cooper Landing and the spectacular fishing of the Kenai River, Moose Pass is a popular spot for travelers looking for beauty and tranquility in the heart of one of Alaska’s most popular regions.
