It was only a matter of time before culinary mastermind Alain Ducasse took his place on the Strip. And in classic Ducasse style, the result is nothing less than grand. Located on the 64th floor of the hotel at Mandalay Bay, Mix is something of a futuristic fantasy. The light and airy, Patrick Jouin-designed interior features a 24-foot, $500,000 Champagne-bubble chandelier consisting of more than 15,000 glass spheres, massive floor-to-ceiling windows that offer spectacular 360-degree views of Las Vegas, and tables with white faux leather--covered chairs. The staff inside the $2-million open kitchen turns out Ducasse’s classic French cuisine, but with a contemporary twist. Dishes include duck foie gras with date-apricot chutney and beef tenderloin Rossini with potato galette and black truffle sauce. The extensive wine collection, consisting of approximately 7,000 bottles, lines an entire wall at the dining room’s entrance.
