This lively upscale Mexican restaurant in South of Market is located on the ground floor of a large office complex. It is set back from Second Street by an open plaza with a huge modern fountain. The interior is decorated with terra-cotta walls, bright pottery flower pots, Mayan masks, and other Mexican art. At the long bar, sip a potent margarita, mojito, or sangria while waiting for your table in one of two dining areas, with tables featuring white linens, fresh flowers, and Spanish-style chairs. The food has the stylish presentation of a fancy French restaurant, but instead of cassoulet, diners can savor mole dishes, gazpacho with crabmeat, and chayote relleno. There’s patio dining at the front entrance.
