Senators, journalists, models, financiers, and media moguls rub elbows at chef/owner Bob Kinkead’s stunning spot for jazzy, distinctive, and fun-to-eat global fare. The deep cherry wood-paneled dining room has an intimate, clubby feel to it, with warm, low lighting; vintage wrought-iron staircases; tufted chocolate leather seating; and elegant table settings. As for what to eat, diners here have a tough choice to make. The palatial raw bar is a great place to start. But then again, the menu, which changes daily and draws influences from Spain, France, Italy, Morocco, and Asia, offers a terrific selection of appetizers, soups, salads, chops, and seafood, not to mention incredibly creative side dishes. It is not possible to order a disappointment. To complement the menu, you’ll find one of the most user-friendly wine lists in the capital. The list is color coded from light to dark according to nose, weight, body, and flavor. Kinkead’s hosts live jazz in the evenings and is a perfect choice for a lively meal with family, friends, or colleagues.
