Tiki torches and an array of colorful flowers greet visitors to this popular Thai restaurant, located on the west end of Waikiki, a few steps north of Fort DeRussy Park. The walls in the waiting area are covered with dozens of photos of celebrities who have visited Keo’s. The restaurant’s owner and namesake, Keo Sananikone, has published over 100,000 copies of his cookbook, entitled Keo’s Thai Cuisine. Many of the restaurant’s fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices are grown locally on farms owned by Sananikone. A signature entrée is the Evil Jungle Prince, an extra-spicy dish featuring your choice of shrimp, chicken, or tofu, served with basil, coconut milk, and red chili on a bed of chopped cabbage.
