With 1,240 rooms in three buildings spread over 62 acres, the Hilton Waikoloa Village is not ideal for romantic getaways. However, with the many activities available in and out of the water, it’s a good choice for families. One of the most popular features is the Dolphin Quest program, in which the lucky winners of lotteries can learn all about these friendly sea creatures and swim with them. The Hilton also offers three freshwater pools (two with water slides), a 4-acre swimming and snorkeling lagoon, a tennis center with eight courts, bike rentals, golf, kayaking trips, sunset sails, a basketball court, beach volleyball, and much more. For sunbathing and ocean swimming, the lovely Anaehoomalu Bay is just a short shuttle ride away. Being such a large resort, the Hilton has nine restaurants and eight lounges, so guests can always find something good to eat and a place to socialize at night. One of the restaurants, Donatoni’s, specializes in Italian food and is designed to resemble a waterside Italian villa. At Imari, the focus is on Japanese cuisine. Jazz bands perform nightly at the Malolo Lounge. Do take time to wander around the resort to view the impressive art collection of more than 1,800 pieces from Asian, Western, and Oceanic cultures. Boats that meander through man-made canals and trams make getting around the spacious resort easier.
