This delightful restaurant derives its name from the 150-year-old tree that spreads out over its dining area, shading the surrounding tables. Situated on Waikiki’s quieter eastern side at the edge of Diamond Head’s Gold Coast, Hau Tree Lanai offers Pacific Rim-inspired dishes, such as mango-marinated pork chops and twin lobster katsu. The restaurant overlooks Sans Souci Beach, a favorite place of respite for the Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson, who visited the beach to revive his spirits and health.
