This is chef/owner Shawn McClain’s temple to vegetarian cooking. Seasonally modified, the restaurant offers a multitude of small-plate vegetarian items that would convert any carnivore. The globally inspired menu includes such dishes as the avocado panna cotta with pickled sweet peppers, and crimson lentil cake with red pepper jam. A few fish and light meat options are also available. The ever-changing menu is especially popular, so plan on making reservations far in advance. The interior is modern and fresh, with exposed brick walls, potted plants, and art gracing the walls. Green Zebra is located on the northeast corner of Chicago and Greenview avenues in the West Town neighborhood—residences and shops are a short walk away.
