When the Cloister opened its doors in 2006 following a complete renovation, the magnificent Georgian Room, an elegant fine-dining restaurant was tucked inside. The décor of the room is stunningly grand, with bas-relief details, gilded chandeliers and a carved stone fireplace. Tables are set with crisp white linens, hand-painted china and silver flatware. What graces those plates is a work of art, with cuisine inspired by seasonal, fresh ingredients and the bounty of the seacoast. Dishes might include butter-poached sea bass with frog’s leg confit and herb dumplings, or succulent kobe beef filet with smoked morel mushrooms. Service is polished and perfect, with staff guiding diners through the meal seamlessly. Though the restaurant is classic, the staff thoughtfully keeps an eye on the present with both vegetarian and wellness menus featuring lighter dishes. A gorgeous private dining room for up to 10 guests makes special events even more memorable.
