Housed in a windowless, unassuming storefront that offers outsiders no clue as to the wonders just beyond the front door, Genoa is a hidden gem where glorious Italian feasts are served nightly. However, if you require predictability and control in your life, this restaurant may not be the place for you. There is no printed menu at Genoa. Your gracious waiter will offer you a choice of three entrées, but all other decisions rest with the chef. The menu is seven courses, prix fixe, and includes antipasto, soup, pasta, fish or salad, your chosen entrée, dessert, and then fruit. (A trip to the gym should be scheduled for the following day.) With this much food to consume, dinner at Genoa is a lengthy, leisurely, and lovely affair. The service is hospitable and knowledgeable, and nothing is rushed (a terrific concept), giving you time to savor the food and your company.
