Named for Michelangelo’s David, this North End Italian restaurant has been a standard favorite for handmade pastas, prime meats and seafood, and a terrific list of grappas for over two decades. The intimate subterranean dining room is set in a restored 18th-century church, and it has the worn, but warm, feel of a treasure from long ago and far away. Lovers of veal scaloppine can take comfort in knowing that chef/owner Franco Caritano's is one of the best in the city, while fans of Caesar salad, mixed tableside, will applaud this rich and creamy version. Pastas are wonderful as well, so be sure to come with an appetite. In short, dinner at Davide is delicious and uncomplicated, and sometimes that is all you need.
