Agriculture, industry, and business are blended in this city of wide streets and modern buildings on the Mississippi River. First called New York, it was later renamed after DeWitt Clinton, former governor of New York. Once the largest lumber-producing city in the world, Clinton today is the home of a diverse group of industries. It is also the seat of a county famous for its prime beef production.
