Considered to be one of the most popular and romantic restaurants in the Houston area, Chez Nous seems to enchant everyone who walks through its doors. Located near Bush International Airport and opened in 1984 in an old Pentecostal church, Chez Nous oozes charm with its rustic interior, replete with crisp white tablecloths, fresh flowers and lace curtains. Chef Gerard Brach received his culinary training in the French Riviera, and the southern France influences abound in the menu. Traditional dishes, like the Chateaubriand Bearnaise, Tournedos Rossini with foie gras and Madeira, and scallop and shrimp gratinee share menu space with more contemporary items as blue crab, mango, tomato and basil salad, Gulf shrimp Provencale with lemon, and Alaskan halibut with black rice and tangerines. A Chef’s tasting menu is also offered, with a supplemental wine pairing available. The wine list is diverse and eclectic, with several wine producing areas represented, and offers something for any type of budget. Chez Nous roughly translates to “Our Home,” a phrase certainly fitting for this warm and inviting restaurant.
