You’d think that you’ve been dropped right in the center of a bustling Lyon bistro if it weren’t for the bucolic views of surrounding Napa Valley. Thomas Keller, of French Laundry and per se fame, opened this more casual outpost in 1998 in an old Wells Fargo stagecoach from the late 1800s. Traditional bistro fare is offered along with a seasonal menu, utilizing the freshest locally sourced ingredients. Delectable options include classics like Steamed Mussels with saffron, Boudin Noir, and Trout with Almonds and Brown Butter. Special mentions must go to the perfect Roasted Chicken and Pommes Frites, an absolute must-have for every table. Desserts consistently shine, such as the Profiteroles with Vanilla Ice Cream and the sensational Lemon Tart. The Adam Tihany-designed space features a stunning zinc bar, a mosaic tile floor, deep burgundy velvet banquettes, and an outdoor patio/garden for reveling in the warm wine country sun. An oyster bar sits at the front of the dining room, and a bakery (located next door) offers the pastries served in the restaurant along with sandwiches, breakfast muffins, and drinks for take-out. Several sidewalk tables are set up for streetside dining, and dining on the patio is also available during nice weather.
