About Bloomfield Hills, Michigan:
Amasa Bagley followed a Native American trail and cleared land on what is today the business section of this small residential city. It was known as Bagley's Corners, later as Bloomfield Center, and then as Bloomfield Hills. In 1904, Ellen Scripps Booth and George G. Booth, president of the Detroit News, bought 300 acres of farmland here, naming it Cranbrook after the English village in which Mr. Booth's father was born. Since then, they have turned the estate into a vast cultural and educational complex. Today, Bloomfield Hills ranks as the second-wealthiest city in the United States. Plan to drive around residential areas to view the city’s Tudor and Georgian mansions that date back to the 1920s, as well as modern mansions built by Detroit’s professional athletes, entertainers, and automotive executives.
