About Battle Creek, Michigan:
Battle Creek's fame was built by two cereal tycoons, W. K. Kellogg and C. W. Post. The Kellogg and Post cereal plants are the largest of their type anywhere, and Post and Kellogg have influenced more than the economy; signs, streets, parks, and many public institutions also bear their names. The city, now dubbed the “Cereal Capital of the World,” takes its name from a small battle that took place on the banks of the creek in 1825 between a native and a land surveyor. Years later, it was a stop on the Underground Railroad; Sojourner Truth lived here for nearly 30 years.
