If you don’t mind lines that rival opening day of The Lord of the Rings, then you'll be fine at Barney Greengrass, an Upper West Side institution since 1908. The restaurant, still decked out like a vintage New York soda fountain, features a simple menu of eggs, waffles, pancakes, and assorted heavenly platters of smoked fish and bagels. From the menu to the waiters to the décor, Barney Greengrass hasn't really changed a whole lot in its century of doing business, and that is part of its distinct old-world charm.
