If Masa, Chef Masa Takayama’s celebrated (and incredibly expensive) Japanese and sushi restaurant, is too hard on your wallet, try going next door to Bar Masa. Both restaurants are located in the Time Warner Center and have some identical items on their menus, but Bar Masa is more affordable and has a casual ambience. The attractive space is narrow, with the bar (topped with an African plank) on one side of the room, and long, ultrasuede banquettes and tables on the other. Lunch, dinner and la carte sushi menus are available, and the restaurant offers a cocktail menu as well as wine and sake lists.
