A fine beach, known for its picturesque beauty, legendary rocks, and a harbor at the mouth of the Coquille River attracts many travelers to Bandon. From November through March, the town is known for its short-lived storms followed by sunshine; it even has a group called the Storm Watchers. Popular seashore activities include beachcombing, hiking, fishing from the south jetty, and crabbing from the docks. Summer and early autumn bring the salmon run in the Coquille River.
