Chef Hiro Sone and his wife, Chef Lissa Doumani, pool their collective culinary experiences and cultural heritages to create a cuisine that’s a marriage of Southern France, Northern Italy and Japan. The atmosphere at Ame is decidedly modern yet comforting. The dining room’s sleek, clean lined furniture, black chairs, and mesquite-colored floor are off-set by the warm, caramel-colored columns and striking polished red wall that surrounds the sashimi bar and kitchen. Coming off their recent success with the groundbreaking restaurant Terra, Sone and Doumani create a menu filled with unexpected charmers. Menu favorites include Lissa’s
Staff Meal (a delicious blend of cuttlefish, sea urchin and wasabi), ginger-braised duck leg, mussel saffron soup, broiled sake-marinated Alaskan black cod, and grilled “Wagyu” strip loin with roasted Japanese mountain potatoes. Ame also provides an international expedition into Europe and Asia via a five-course tasting menu.
