Amarind’s creative and reasonably priced fare may well warrant a drive out to the western edge of the city (Amarind’s is closer to suburban River Forest than to downtown). The chef/owner hails from Arun’s in Chicago, the north side gourmet eatery consistently ranked as one of the country’s best Thai restaurants. His experience shows in offerings such as spicy curry pork, ginger scallop salad, and spinach noodles with shrimp and crab. Fragrant flowers, Thai art and artifacts, and intricate table coverings all add to the cozy and casual atmosphere here.
