The original guest rooms of this small hotel were built in 1939, shortly after Alta's first ski resort opened. Today, the lodge is a mix of room styles, with dormlike rooms as well as newer and more luxurious rooms with mountain views, fireplaces, and balconies. Rates include full breakfast and dinner. Two saunas and whirlpools with a 30-foot wall of glass facing the slopes help guests thaw out after a day in the snow, and the private sundeck has a wonderful view of the mountain. In this city of natural beauty, there are no TVs in the guest rooms, although there's a big-screen TV in the lobby area if you must indulge.
